Maryann Preble spent much of her childhood in Pineland, but figured out how to get out of that institution, and went on to live a full life in her community with family, friends, marriage and good work. She now lives on her own without getting any services, and spends much of her time being a self-advocate to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities everywhere.
